What Is Spray Tanning?
Spray tanning is a cosmetic treatment that temporarily adds colour to the outermost surface of the skin.
A fine mist containing a tanning ingredient—commonly DHA—is applied evenly across the selected areas. DHA interacts with cells on the skin’s surface, gradually developing into a tanned appearance over the following hours.
The colour is temporary and gradually fades as the skin naturally renews itself.

Preparing for Your Spray Tan
Before Your Appointment
For the best possible finish:
- Exfoliate gently approximately 24 hours before your appointment
- Pay attention to dry areas such as elbows, knees and ankles
- Complete shaving or waxing before your appointment
- Arrive with clean, completely dry skin
- Avoid applying moisturiser immediately before treatment unless advised
- Do not wear perfume, deodorant, makeup or body oils
- Wear loose, dark clothing and comfortable footwear
- Remove jewellery before your appointment
- Tell your practitioner about allergies or sensitive skin
- Avoid applying the treatment over irritated, broken or sunburned skin
Do not exfoliate aggressively immediately before your appointment, as this may leave the skin sensitive.
